SHABBAT

A staple of UConn Hillel's programming is our weekly Shabbat
celebrations, in addition to those of all Jewish holidays.
Shabbat is a time for family - and a time to take a break from the rest of the week. Dinner is FREE to all in attendance. Everyone is welcome to join our Hillel family anytime. Email Laura Matthews, Assistant Director, at laura@uconnhillel.org if you would like to visit!
On Friday nights we begin at 6pm with student led Kabbalat Shabbat services.
We hold a community Shabbat dinner, catered by NOSH Kosher Kitchen in the Gelfenbien Commons Dining Hall, in our Multipurpose Room, which serves anywhere from 40-80 students on a weekly basis. After dinner, we encourage students to stay and hang out with their friends, from dessert and table conversations to playing pool or board games in our one-of-a-kind basement lounge!
On Saturday mornings, we offer Shabbat brunch to those who choose to attend.
We have specialized Havdallah events throughout the semester, including karaoke and movie nights.
